( Royal Thai Consulate General Kolkata in collaboration with International Institute of Hotel Management organizes ‘Thailand on a Plate’, a culinary festival at the IIHM Salt Lake campus on 17 May 2025)

“With immense joy and great honour I extend a warm welcome to each one of the members of the media, bloggers, influencers, excellencies , dear friends of Thailand, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen this special catering has been made possible through the wonderful collaborations between the Royal Thai Consulate General Kolkata and IIHM Salt lake,” said Smt. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consulate General of Royal Thai Consulate General in Kolkata in her inaugural address at the Thai Food Festival 2025- Thailand on a Plate at IIHM Salt lake campus on last Saturday .
“And we’re both proud and truly delighted to share this beautiful moment with all of you. Today, we come together not just to watch a film or taste delicious Thai food, but also to immerse ourselves in the very soul of Thailand through heartwarming stories, irresistible flavors, and the deep, enduring friendship between Thailand and India,”she added.
Right here at IIHM in this city of joy, The Royal Thai Consulate General Kolkata feels honored to present Pad Thai, a short film that does more than showcase a beloved Thai dish, Pad Thai. It captures the warmth, the spirit, the hospitality that Thailand is so famously known for. But this afternoon has even more to offer, she said.
“After the film, guests and students will have the unique opportunity to witness a live cooking demonstration by our two extraordinary chefs. And you will soon discover Thai cuisine is far more than just a delightful balance for its sweet, sour, salty, and very important, spicy flavors. And also, its outstanding ayurvedic benefits, very good for health. It is also a heartfelt expression of love. I said before, I will love later from Thailand. Memory and traditions lovingly served on every plate. Each bite tells a story carrying the spirit of generations and the rich history woven through its flavors,” explains Smt. Siriporn Tantipanyathep.
Thai cuisine is a language without words, a language that speaks directly to your soul. And today, that beautiful language will be brought to life by our two talented Thai chefs. Through their hands and hearts, they will share with us Thailand’s culinary legacy passed down through generations right before your eyes.
A warm round of applause was given to Chef Som and Chef Samlong. She’s a supervised student of the IHM to prepare very special dishes for us to enjoy. Their skills and passion will transport you directly to the heart of Thailand’s culinary soul.
And let’s not forget to give another big round of applause to the dedicated faculty and students of International Institute of Hotel Management Kolkata , and particularly the Director Smt. Sanjukta Bose, whose hospitality and tireless effort have made this afternoon possible, Mrs. Siriporn Tantipanyathep said.
Together, we have worked hand in hand, heart to heart, with my team at the Royal Thai Consulate General to create this wonderful moment for us all to enjoy. We are also truly grateful from the heart, each and every one of you. Thank you for being here.

Smt. Sanjukta Bose, Director of IIHM Kolkata thanked all the distinguished guests present to make the event successful and spoke on the rich culinary heritage of Thailand and long lasting friendships with India with a brief of the session and the institute and said that in the coming days more such events will be organised.
