The state government has given administrative sanction for the Rs. 99.99 lakh project for developing a Manaveeyam-model street in Peralassery in Dharamadam Assembly constituency in Kannur district, as part of the Tourism Department’s initiatives to tap into the high potential of the panoramic locale in north Kerala.

The salient features of the project include road front development, children’s play zone with state-of-the-art equipment, kiosks, cafeteria, open air theatre, lighting, setting up street furniture and plumbing and electrical works.

“This project is aimed at providing a quality ambience for tourists as well as local holidayers visiting the scenic Dharamadam area,” Tourism Minister Mr. P A Mohamed Riyas sad. Over the last four years, the Tourism Department has identified and developed a string of such spots across the state as part of the upfront strategy of transforming the entire Kerala into an integrated experiential tourism ecosystem that caters to the tastes of present-day tourists,” Mr. Riyas added.

The project will be completed within 10 months. The project will follow the model set by Manaveeyam Veedhi in the heart of the state capital, which is now a vibrant cultural space that caters to both tourists and local residents for spending quality time and engaging in literary and artistic pursuits. The aesthetically-designed street features various installations and sets the right ambience for relaxation and events such as musical and dance performances, literary conversations and cultural exchanges.
