NEW DELHI | 14 DECEMBER 2025

The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) has announced resumption of the island’s tourism sector, effective December 15, 2025, inviting global travellers to once again experience its renowned beaches, hospitality, and natural beauty.

This milestone follows a comprehensive recovery effort launched after the destructive impact of Hurricane Melissa in late October 2025. Through robust cooperation between the Jamaican government, communities, and tourism stakeholders, essential infrastructure was restored, and resorts and attractions are fully prepared for reopening. This rapid rehabilitation was significantly bolstered by substantial international support, ensuring both a swift return to normalcy and strengthened long-term resilience.

Key Reopenings Underway:

Sandals Leads the Way: Sandals Resorts International was among the first major properties to welcome guests, reopening five resorts-including Sandals Dunn’s River Resort, Sandals Ocho Rios, and Beaches Negril Resort & Spa-on December 6, 2025.

Luxury Destination Returns: Half Moon Jamaica is scheduled to commence its phased reopening on December 15, 2025, beginning with “Eclipse at Half Moon” and its renovated villas.

Island-Wide Availability: Dozens of hotels, guest-houses, and villas across Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, Kingston, and the South Coast are now open or have confirmed imminent reopening dates, providing diverse accommodation options for all travellers.

All key attractions and natural sites have recovered quickly. Iconic visitor experiences-from water sports and beach outings to cultural tours and jungle adventures-are fully operational. The reopening of flagship resorts like Sandals Dunn’s River Resort has been hailed as a symbolic marker of the island’s successful tourism rebound.

Jamaica looks forward to welcoming international visitors, including the India market, offering an unbeatable combination of sun, sea, and laid-back island charm. The travel-ready infrastructure and renewed commitment to safety make this an opportune time to plan a Jamaican getaway.
