Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Brahmapur – Udhna Amrit Bharat Express through a programme held in Odisha today. This is the 12th Amrit Bharat Express train in the country. Out of these, 10 Amrit Bharat trains are being operated from Bihar. The Amrit Bharat Express has successfully drawn the attention of passengers, particularly the middle class.
The Amrit Bharat Express is a special gift of the Amrit Kaal, through which world-class services are being provided to common people in the non-AC category at fares of less than ₹500 per thousand kilometers. For the passengers of Indian Railways, this is truly a remarkable and distinctive service.
The Amrit Bharat Express symbolises a new concept of affordable travel combined with state-of-the-art passenger facilities. Its biggest attraction lies in its design and features. This indigenous train further strengthens the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Its identity rests on three pillars, passenger convenience, energy efficiency and environmental consciousness. This is why the train reflects the evolving face of the Nation.
At the launch of the Amrit Bharat Express trains, the Prime Minister said that after Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat, the country has acquired another modern train. This new train has been named the Amrit Bharat Express. Together, the trio of Vande Bharat, Namo Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains is set to transform Indian Railways, a vision that is now becoming a reality.
From a technical perspective, the Amrit Bharat Express is extremely safe. Equipped with the Kavach system, the train also features semi-automatic couplers, crash tubes and EP-assisted braking systems to enable instant braking in emergencies. All coaches are fully sealed with gangways and vacuum evacuation systems. For the first time, a fire detection system has been provided in non-AC coaches, a revolutionary step in passenger safety. Additionally, talkback units and response units in the guard rooms further strengthen security.
Special attention has been given to passenger comfort during the journey. Semi-automatic couplers ensure minimal jolt or noise when coaches are joined or separated. Deformation tubes reduce impact in case of accidents. Push-pull technology helps enhance the train’s speed.
Several modern features have been added to the coaches for passenger convenience, including foldable snack tables, mobile holders, bottle holders, radium floor strips, comfortable seats and improved berths. Every toilet is equipped with an electro-pneumatic flushing system, automatic soap dispensers and fire suppression systems. Special toilets are also provided for divyangjan passengers. Fast charging ports for every passenger and a pantry car further enhance travel comfort.
The Amrit Bharat Express embodies the vision that the country’s Rail travel has now entered a new era of modern facilities and affordable fares.
