In a significant endorsement of Indian Railways’ digital transformation and passenger-friendly initiatives, a distinguished foreign dignitary visiting Howrah Station today expressed deep appreciation for Eastern Railway’s efforts in promoting the RailOne Super App and maintaining high standards of passenger amenities at one of the country’s busiest transport hubs.
Eastern Railway has been actively conducting awareness campaigns across its jurisdiction to popularise the RailOne Super App among passengers and stakeholders. As part of this initiative, members of Bharat Scouts & Guides, railway staff and personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have been engaging passengers at key stations, demonstrating the features and benefits of the app and encouraging its adoption for seamless railway services.

During this ongoing campaign, Eastern Railway received appreciation from Mr. Saman Athaudahetti, a distinguished retired Government Officer from Sri Lanka and Adviser to the 8th President of Sri Lanka, who visited Howrah Station during his current tour of India. Mr. Athaudahetti previously served as the Former Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka and is widely recognised as a creative writer and television presenter.
Currently travelling across India to write a book on Indian Railways, Mr. Athaudahetti is visiting major railway stations to study their operations, infrastructure and passenger services. During his visit to Howrah Station, he expressed admiration for the modern initiatives undertaken by Indian Railways, particularly the RailOne Super App, which integrates multiple railway services into a single digital platform. Impressed by its features and convenience, he downloaded the RailOne App during his visit.

He also praised the efficient management of Howrah Station, which handles an approximate daily footfall of around 4.5 lakh passengers, making it one of the busiest railway stations in the country. Mr. Athaudahetti appreciated the station’s cleanliness, passenger-friendly facilities and well-maintained infrastructure.
During his visit, he showed keen interest in several notable landmarks and facilities within the station premises, including the historic Boro Ghori (Big Clock), the Zero Point, the Jan Ahar outlet where nutritious meals are provided at an affordable cost of ₹15, and the RRI Cabin. He also appreciated the clean and well-maintained railway tracks and the preservation of the station’s historic structures.
Eastern Railway continues to promote the RailOne Super App as part of Indian Railways’ vision of “One Rail, One App, One Digital India,” enabling passengers to conveniently access ticketing, train information and multiple railway services through a single integrated digital platform.
