In alignment with the vision of PM Narendra Modi , Siuri Station under Asansol Division of Eastern Railway is slated for a major upgrade under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aimed at improving passenger amenities and enhancing the station’s overall infrastructure and services.
Siuri Railway Station (Station Code: SURI) is one of the key stations on the Andal–Sainthia branch line under Asansol Division. It serves the town of Siuri, the district headquarters of Birbhum in West Bengal, and its adjoining villages. The station is a vital hub for pilgrims visiting Bakreshwar Temple and its famous hot springs, as well as Data Babar Mazaar (the Dargah of Data Saheb) in Patharchapuri. Siuri Station plays an essential role in connecting locals and visitors alike to these important religious and cultural sites.
Key improvements under the redevelopment project include the enhancement of traffic circulation and the beautification of the station’s circulating area, providing passengers with better access and a more welcoming environment. The station’s existing facade and elevation will undergo significant improvements, including modern lighting installations and the construction of a new entrance gate. The installation of a high mast tower light will further improve visibility, ensuring the safety and comfort of travelers during night hours.
The project also focuses on enhancing accessibility and passenger convenience. A new lift will be installed between Platform No. 02 and 03, allowing easier movement for passengers, particularly the elderly and Divyangjan (persons with disabilities). In addition, three dedicated drinking water booths will be set up for Divyangjan, demonstrating a commitment to inclusive facilities.
Interior upgrades will see waiting halls, ticket counters, and other public spaces revamped to offer greater comfort and ease for travelers. High-quality furniture and modern amenities will be provided, ensuring a more pleasant waiting experience. The station’s platforms will also be enhanced with two new platform sheds, providing much-needed protection from weather conditions. New coach indication boards and train indication boards will be installed to offer clear and real-time information for passengers.
Furthermore, the station’s new parking area will alleviate traffic congestion and offer more convenience to passengers arriving by car. This, along with the overall infrastructural improvements, will transform Siuri Station into a modern, efficient, and passenger-friendly facility.
The redevelopment initiative at Siuri Station is part of Indian Railways’ broader efforts to modernize its stations, improve operational efficiency, and elevate the overall passenger experience. Upon completion, Siuri Station will provide a more accessible, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing environment for travelers, further strengthening its role as a key railway hub in the region. The project will also contribute to boosting local connectivity and enhancing the quality of service for both short and long-distance commuters.
