During the Arabian Travel Mart 2023 in Dubai, there has been several big announcements, but one announcement that brings joy to the indian travellers was by Mr. Johan Eidhagen , Officer and Managing Director of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi where has has said that the ultra low cost airline is going through the normal regulatory process and will venture into the lucrative India – UAE aviation sector in the coming days.
He said this at the sidelines of the ATM 2023 in Dubai which concluded few days ago. Eyeing more expansion, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is also hiring a large number of employees and not only will begin operations in new routes but will also start daily flight services and increase number of weekly flights from India and Pakistan to UAE.
There is massive demand of low cost air travel both in India and Pakistan. The airline is waiting for the go ahead from the regulators.
The ultra low cost carrier has plans to have a strong workforce of over 8000 employees.
Mr. Johan Eidhagen also added that the focus will not only be on the metro cities of India but also the Tier-1 and Tier 2 cities. “ Though the sector is very much competitive at present but still it is growing and has immense scope and Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is also keen to start flight operations in the India – UAE sector,”he said. The target will be the cities situated about five to six hour radius in distance from Abu Dhabi.
Talking to the www.thetravelandtourismtimes.com, Mr. Anil Punjabi, Chairman ( East) of Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) said that he is excited after hearing the news and it will benefit both the travel agents and travellers and there will be huge growth in tourism business in the sector once the flight operations starts.
At present there are eight aircrafts of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi and eight more will be added in its fleet within the next one year.
In 2022, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has carried 1.2 million passengers and this year the target is to cross over two million passengers.
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is known as a discount king and passengers can join the Wizz Discount Club and can avail tickets at a cost of ED 179 or in Indian Rs. 3984 or even discounted prices.
Different seats have different pricing and passengers are adviced to purchase tickets at least three months before their journey to avail these facilities of cheapest airfares.
