Raiganj Head Post Office and Uttar Dinajpur Postal Divisional Office has been inaugurated virtually by Shri Devusinh Chauhan, Union Minister of State for Communications, on 11th November, 2022 at 11.00 AM, in the presence of Smt. Debasree Chaudhuri, MP (Loksabha), Raiganj and Ms. J. Charukesi, Chief Postmaster General, West Bengal Circle at Raiganj Head Post Office premises.
Earlier, there was only one Postal Division in Uttar and Dakshin Dinajpur Revenue Districts named as Dinajpur Division with 1 Head Post Office (Balurghat Head Post Office), 44 Sub Post Offices and 328 Branch Post Offices.
The newly formed Uttar Dinajpur Postal Division will serve approx. 32 lakh population across 3142 Square Kilometers area. The Division will consist of Two Sub Divisions (Raiganj Sub Division and Islampur Sub Division) along with One Head Post Office, 22 Sub Post Offices and 182 Branch Post Offices.
Uttar Dinajpur Division will be the 29th Postal Division in the West Bengal Circle and 6th in North Bengal Region. Raiganj H.O. will be the 8th H.O. in North Bengal Region and 48th in the West Bengal Circle.
The formation of Uttar Dinajpur Postal Division will provide speedy and reliable postal services and will enable last mile connectivity as a Government of India platform for the people of Uttar Dinajpur District.
