THE WAIT IS OVER,  AKASA AIR TO FLY TO KOLKATA SKIES FROM 18 MAY 2023

KOLKATA, 18 MARCH 2023:

Nine months after it took off, Akasa Air, the newest airline in India is all set to fly upon the Kolkata skyline from 18 May 2023.

Kolkata will be the 17 th destination of Akasa Air. The non stop daily flight will connect Kolkata and Bengaluru and Guwahati. From 17 April it will connect Guwahati and Bengaluru.

With the start of the flight operations in this route, Akasa Air will be connecting all the major metro  cities in the country.

“No airline in the history of global aviation in 150 years has seen this rate of growth.  Akasa Air  is one of the top 2 OTP players in India till February 2023. We will place a 3-digit aircraft order by the end of 2023 and  we will hire 300 pilots in the next 12 months,” says Mr. Vinay Dube, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Akasa Air.

Mr. Anil Punjabi, Chairman ( East) of Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI), said that everybody is waiting for Akasa Air flight operations from Kolkata and it is good news that the ultra low cost carrier is connecting two cities of the east – Bagdogra and Kolkata shortly.

“ It is very good news for the aviation sector, travel agents and the air passengers of Kolkata as more options will be available,” said Mr. Anil Punjabi.

“ To be a truly national airline and have a pan India presence Akasa needed to add Kolkata to its network.With phenomenon air traffic growth coming out of Kolkata, Akasa will give some respite to passengers from the ballooning air fares,” said Mr. Amin  Ashgar , President of Skal International Kolkata.

Mr. Manav Soni, Chairman ( East) of The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) said that it is a new product for the Kolkata market.

“ Akasa Air looks promising .the market report says they are slowly but steadily going strength by the product satisfaction and timely performance . we wish them great luck and expect them to be agent friendly,” adds Mr. Manav Soni.

 

India’s newest airline, Akasa Air, since its much hyped launch in August 2022  has carried  till date over 1 million revenue passengers and crossed the milestone of operating over 700 weekly flights. There are eight tier 1 cities in India, and Akasa now has all of them in its network. Besides  Kolkata, the other metro cities also  include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Pune.
