Nearly five decades after Late Shri Narayan Shetty founded Gurukripa in 1977, second-generation hospitality entrepreneur Akshay Shetty is taking the culinary legacy into a new chapter with Palate Specialty Caterers, a premium catering venture under Passion Projects Hospitality. Launched in 2026, Palate combines the group’s longstanding F&B experience with contemporary culinary concepts, personalised menus and experience-led hospitality.
The venture builds on the group’s established restaurant portfolio, including Gurukripa Restobar in Powai and Thane, and Cray Craft Kitchen & Bar in Andheri, established in 2023. Conceived to bridge the gap between traditional event catering and evolving dining preferences, Palate brings restaurant-style creativity to celebrations while retaining the flavours and consistency associated with Gurukripa.
Demonstrating its ability to deliver personalised experiences at scale, Palate catered the Haldi ceremony of the granddaughter of Mr. V. R. Shariff, Founder and Chairman of Niton Valve Industries Pvt. Ltd. (Valvinox), widely recognised as the “Valve Man of India,” in March 2026. The celebrations featured bespoke catering for gatherings of up to 1,000 guests, highlighting the brand’s ability to combine culinary creativity with large-format execution.
Speaking about the launch, Akshay Shetty, Proprietor, Passion Projects Hospitality, said, “Gurukripa has been an integral part of our journey, shaping our understanding of how food brings people together. With Palate, we are taking this experience into a new space, creating bespoke culinary experiences that go beyond conventional catering. From intimate celebrations to large-format events, exclusive private gatherings and brand-led experiences, Palate brings together curated food concepts, artistic presentation and interactive dining to make every occasion distinctive.”
Palate’s menus span regional Indian specialities, South Indian favourites and global cuisines, including Asian and Continental offerings. Among its distinctive creations are Tacos Uramaki, which reimagines sushi in a taco-style format; Chef Amir Khan’s Biryani, a longstanding favourite from Gurukripa’s existing menu; and Churros with Chocolate Canvas Art, an interactive dessert combining food with visual creativity. Live culinary stations, grazing tables and customisable menus are complemented by standardised recipes and live batch cooking to maintain quality across events.
With the capacity to cater to approximately 800–1,000 guests, Palate is focused on weddings, corporate hospitality, intimate gatherings and large-format celebrations. The brand combines thoughtfully curated menus with attentive service, bringing the group’s culinary experience to occasions of different scales.
With Palate, Passion Projects Hospitality continues to build on Gurukripa’s long standing culinary foundations, bringing nearly five decades of experience into a new generation of event dining.
