EVENT : INDIAN EMBASSY IN CAIRO ORGANISES EVENT RECENTLY FOR TOURISM PROMOTION

The Indian Embassy in Cairo will organize an event earlier this month  Thursday to encourage Egyptian tourists to visit India with the participation of the Tourism Ministry and a number of travel agencies.

In a statement on Sunday, the embassy said India is one of the oldest civilizations in the world and it is famous for many tourist attractions.

Being the seventh-largest country by area, India is considered one of the most tourist destinations in the world. From the snow-capped Himalayas to the tropical beaches of Goa, from the wildlife of Assam to the largest tea field of Kerala, there is always something new in every corner of India.

Minister of Tourism and Archaeology meets Indian Ambassador in Cairo :

Few days ago, the  Minister of Tourism and Archaeology, Mr Ahmed Issa, held a meeting, via video conference, with Ambassador Ajit Gopte, Ambassador of India to Cairo, to discuss ways to enhance mutual cooperation between the two countries at the tourism and archaeological level.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Amr Al-Qazi, the executive president of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Activation, Mr. Ahmed Obaid, Assistant Minister for Council Affairs and the Permanent Representative of the Ministry, Mrs. Yamuna Al-Bahar, Assistant Minister for Technical Affairs and Affairs of the Minister’s Office, and Mrs. Samia Sami, Head of the Central Administration for Tourism Companies in the Ministry.

The Minister began the meeting to welcome Ambassador Ajit Gopteh, he also emphasized the long lasting relations between Egypt and India and cooperation relations, especially in the field of tourism and archaeology.

As he pointed out that tourism contributes to the closeness of peoples, assured that Egypt welcomes all tourists from all nationalities, including those who came from India to enjoy the Egyptian monuments and civilization besides getting to know the picturesque tourist spots and sunny beaches.

He also pointed out the increase in tourism from India to Egypt as a sign of its optimism and hope to achieve more growth in the movement, emphasizing that the Indian market is one of the major markets the ministry is interested in attracting more tourism from it.

On his part, the ambassador said that the Indian tourist is passionate about Egyptian heritage and civilization and that he is interested in cultural tourism, referring to the direct flight that was operated days ago between Cairo and the Indian capital New Delhi, in addition to having direct flights from Cairo to Mumbai.

The meeting discussed mechanisms to drive more tourism movement from India to the Egyptian tourist destination, the event being organized by the Indian Embassy in Egypt at the embassy headquarters mid of this month to encourage inter-country tourism, the event is the first of the events to be organized in the coming period.

During the last quarter of this year, a Tourist Caravan (Roadshow) will be organized in India, along with the participation of the ministry represented by the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Activation in the Tourism Expo (OTM) activities scheduled to be held in Mumbai, India in February.

The meeting also aimed at referring to the promotional campaign launched by the ministry in 18 targeted markets, including the Indian market, where this campaign included a promotional film under the slogan “Your Expectation are History”, as well as the launch of a number of propaganda films in the Indian market to promote and market a cultural tourism product including the promotional film “200 Years of science in the making”, and the short promotional film about the discovery of King Tut Ankh Amoun’s tomb, which highlights the great fame of King Tot Ankh Amoun around the world.

The importance of combining all efforts to maximize inter-country tourism and direct communication between tour organizers in India and organizing work teams between them and their Egyptian counterparts was also emphasized.

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narenda Modi made an official visit to Egypt during June last where he visited on the fringe of the Pyramids of Giza, and the Governor’s Mosque in Al-Mazz Street.

Last January, the city of Sharm El Sheikh received the first direct flight from India to Sharm El Sheikh Airport for the purpose of “Wedding Tourism” in the framework of implementing this tourism style and promoting the Egyptian tourist destination as a wedding destination and attracting pioneers to Egypt.
