FOOD : RECIPE OF THE WEEK:BATTENBERG CAKE

INGREDIENTS  :

  1. Baking Powder – 20 gm
  2. Butter – 1 kg
  3. Icing Sugar – 1 kg
  4. Flour – 1 kg
  5. Vanilla Essence – 1 tsp
  6. Marzipan – 300 gm
  7. Pink Color – 20 gm
  8. Baking Soda – 10 gm

METHOD :

  • Soften the Butter and then beat the Butter ,keep adding sugar and mix well
  • Add egg and gradually flour into it .
  • Add baking powder and soda and keep beating the mixture till the mixture becomes soft and Fluffy.
  • Divide into 2 separate bowls , add pink color in one of the bowls.
  • Put in a greased baking tray and in a preheated Oven at 180 ‘c
  • Check and bake well , take it outside , let it cool.
  • Cut into a rectangular strip , and spray with sugar water . Roll out the marzipan , place the sponge sticks in checkers board style.
  • Cut the loaf and serve ,
