*“Queen of Satpura” Hosts the 7th Pachmarhi Monsoon Marathon, with Runners Aged 6 to 70 Spreading a Message of Environmental Conservation

The serene hill station of Pachmarhi in Madhya Pradesh, was charged with energy and excitement on Sunday as it hosted the 7th edition of the much-awaited Pachmarhi Monsoon Marathon. Organized jointly by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, the district administration, and ‘Adventure and You’ (KA Connect), the event brought together around 2,000 runners from across India, including 7 international athletes.
Adding a unique touch to the event, several participants from cities like Nagpur and Bhopal cycled all the way to Pachmarhi, amplifying the message of environmental sustainability. The runners enjoyed the scenic beauty of Pachmarhi under light showers and cloudy skies, making the marathon a truly memorable experience. All participants received medals, while winners were felicitated with trophies.
Principal Secretary, Tourism, Culture, and Religious Trusts & Endowments Department, and Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board Mr.Sheo Shekhar Shukla stated,
“The Pachmarhi Monsoon Marathon is not just a sporting event—it reflects the essence of Madhya Pradesh’s natural beauty, adventure tourism, and community involvement. The Tourism Board is committed to showcasing the state’s natural and adventure destinations in new and engaging ways. Hosting such a marathon in the monsoon at a stunning hill station like Pachmarhi not only boosts adventure tourism but also inspires awareness about health, discipline, and the environment. The strong participation from across the country and international runners highlights Madhya Pradesh’s growing reputation as a hub for experiential tourism.”
Enthusiastic Participation Across All Age Groups :
One of the most inspiring highlights of the Pachmarhi Monsoon Marathon was the vibrant participation from people across all age groups. From energetic children as young as 6 years old to spirited senior citizens over the age of 70, the event saw an incredible mix of runners united by their love for fitness and nature. Notably, two specially-abled participants added immense inspiration to the marathon—Shrikant Raut from Maharashtra ran in the 5 KM category, while Niranjan Jadhav from Mumbai completed the 21 KM race. Particularly heartwarming was the performance of Nidhi, a hearing-impaired athlete, who not only participated but also won the 21 KM race, earning admiration from all.
Four Marathon Categories:
Set against the lush monsoon backdrop of Pachmarhi, the marathon was conducted in four categories—42 kilometers, 21 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and 5 kilometers. The race commenced from the scenic MPT Glen View Hotel. While the 42 KM category flagged off early at 4:00 AM, the 21 KM, 10 KM, and 5 KM races began at 6:00 AM, drawing enthusiastic runners to the cool, rain-kissed trails of Satpura’s Queen.
