Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy continued his series of meetings on the sidelines of his participation in the World Travel Market (WTM 2025) in London on Friday 7/11/2025.

He held discussions with the CEO of TUI Group and the CEO of Coral Travel Group, two of the world’s leading tour operators.

During the meetings, officials from both companies reviewed growth rates in tourist arrivals to Egypt during the current year.

The CEO of TUI Group said that tourism to Egypt has grown by 40% from the beginning of January until now.

He also announced the launch of a new floating hotel between Luxor and Aswan as part of the group’s plans to support Nile cruise tourism.

He noted efforts to expand tourist flows to include new destinations such as Marsa Alam, Sharm El-Sheikh, and Marsa Matrouh.

He congratulated the Egyptian government on the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), affirming that this milestone will further strengthen Egypt’s position on the global tourism map.

Fathy reaffirmed the state’s commitment to encouraging tourism investments and developing infrastructure in promising regions, highlighting ongoing development works in the Berenice area south of Marsa Alam, its connection to Red Sea cities via new road networks, and the link between Berenice Airport and Marsa Alam Airport.

The Minister also outlined efforts to promote Nile tourism, noting the expansion of floating hotel licenses and development of docking facilities, in addition to the growing popularity of long Nile cruises from Cairo to Aswan, which last 11 days and combine cultural, spiritual, and heritage experiences with visits to Egypt’s diverse archaeological sites.
