In a continued effort to ensure the punctuality of train services and enhance passenger safety, Eastern Railway has intensified its action against unauthorized Alarm Chain Pulling (ACP) under the special drive “Operation Samay Palan”. ACP without valid reason not only disrupts train schedules but also causes inconvenience and safety risks to thousands of passengers daily. Students, patients, traders, and many other passengers with urgent needs are badly affected when trains are delayed. Misuse of the alarm chain is a punishable offence that impacts the larger traveling public and disrupts punctual train operations.
On 20.11.2025, Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials across Eastern Railway—covering Howrah, Sealdah, Asansol, and Malda Divisions—conducted coordinated checks and vigilance drives. As a result, 18 persons indulging in unauthorized ACP were apprehended and prosecuted under relevant provisions of the Railway Act.
Division-wise arrests include 07 persons in Asansol Division, 05 persons in Malda Division, 04 persons in Howrah Division, and 02 persons in Sealdah Division.
Eastern Railway appeals to all passengers to refrain from unauthorized ACP, which should be used strictly during genuine emergencies. Unauthorized use of the alarm chain causes delays and inconvenience to thousands of commuters and affects the smooth running of train operations.
