In a major boost to West Bengal’s textile sector, Union Minister of Textiles Shri Giriraj Singh unveiled ‘OFF RICH’, the state’s first fully integrated ‘Yarn-to-Closet’ brand of shirts. The landmark launch took place during the Minister’s recent visit to the Shri Maa Group facility, marking a significant step forward for regional manufacturing and brand creation.

Developed by the Shri Maa Group, the ‘OFF RICH’ brand represents a fully integrated textile ecosystem. The initiative manages the entire production lifecycle—from initial yarn spinning and fabric manufacturing to the final stitched garment—under a single operational umbrella. According to company representatives, the homegrown brand aims to showcase manufacturing excellence and innovation with plans to scale into national and international markets.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Union Minister Giriraj Singh highlighted the strategic importance of the launch for the state’s economic landscape. He assured that the West Bengal government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Sri Suvendu Adhikari, is fully committed to bolstering the textile industry. The Minister emphasized that state support would extend beyond basic industrial survival, focusing instead on building a robust, comprehensive ecosystem designed to attract fresh investments and accelerate regional development.

The project is expected to serve as a key driver for local employment. Shri Maa Group reiterated its commitment to community-centric industrial growth, stating that the expansion aims to create sustainable livelihoods within the state so that the local youth do not have to migrate to other regions in search of work.

In a major boost to the state’s industrial landscape, Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh had inspected Shri Maa Textiles Limited, the flagship unit of the Shri Maa Group. The visit highlights the facility’s growing role in strengthening West Bengal’s textile manufacturing potential.

Accompanied by Chairman of Maa Group of Industries, Bijay Sharma at Jamuria, Giriraj Singh inspected the plant. The Maa Group has evinced interest to double its capacity.” We are planning to expand our garmenting division from 1500 units per day to minimum 5-6000 units per day And in the near future we will be coming up with textiles processing division also if we are supported with proper policies and frameworks to safeguard the textile industries as a whole in West Bengal as we need to develop the complete eco systems for textile industry. Already Rs.150 crores has been invested and after the new industrial policy has been announced we are planning to invest another Rs.150 crores in this sector and make Jamuria a textile hub of the
state,” Mr. Bijay Sharma added.

Operating with advanced European looms and modern production infrastructure, the plant delivers a massive output of 20 million metres of fabric and 1 million shirts annually. Beyond production milestones, the facility serves as a vital economic driver for the region, generating jobs for more than 4,000 local workers through 1,000 direct and 3,000 indirect employment opportunities.

Lauding the infrastructure during his tour, Shri Giriraj Singh highly appreciated the group’s manufacturing capabilities and its pivotal role in driving employment in the region

Union Minister Shri Giriraj Singh highlighted West Bengal’s pivotal role in India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation by 2047, urging the state to reclaim its position as a premier industrial hub under the ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking during an interaction with industry representatives, the Minister recalled West Bengal’s historic legacy as one of India’s leading industrial powerhouses, with Kolkata previously serving as a premier financial and commercial centre. He noted with concern that despite its immense latent potential, the state has gone through a prolonged period of industrial decline.

However, the Minister emphasized that West Bengal still retains tremendous competitive advantages. The state is uniquely positioned with abundant natural resources, stable power availability, a highly skilled workforce, and two major functional ports. Crucially, its strategic geographical location allows it to serve nearly half of the domestic Indian market while acting as a gateway to the entire Southeast Asian region.

“Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, West Bengal has a crucial role to play in India’s economic transformation,” Singh stated. He added that the Central Government’s renewed focus on core industrial development and the textile sector presents a prime opportunity for the state to revitalize its economy and emerge once again as a top destination for national and global investments.

The Union Minister for Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, lauded the resilience of the textile industry, identifying it as the largest employment generator after agriculture. Speaking at an event, the Minister highlighted that the sector has now been designated as a thrust area under the West Bengal government’s new industrial policy, reflecting a clear commitment to fostering investment, driving industrial growth, and generating large-scale employment.

Shri Giriraj Singh commended the management and team of Shri Maa Textiles Limited (part of the Shri Maa Group) for establishing and running a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. He noted that the group achieved this milestone despite a challenging business environment and a historical lack of adequate ecosystem and institutional support.

The Minister further acknowledged that the group maintained its operations with remarkable determination under the regimes of previous governments. Despite facing significant operational hurdles, Shri Maa Group’s commitment to industrial investment, manufacturing excellence, and job creation has remained unwavering.
