Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Bhubaneswar Office successfully organised a Homestay/B&B Establishment Workshop on 16th January 2026 at Hotel Padmini, Bhubaneswar, with active participation from tourism stakeholders.
The workshop was aimed at creating awareness about the Homestay/ Bed & Breakfast (B&B) scheme, its registration process, standards, benefits, and its vital role in promoting sustainable and community-based tourism.

Ms. R. S. Tirkey, Assistant Director, India Tourism, Bhubaneswar, addressed the participants and highlighted the importance of homestays in enhancing tourist experiences, generating local employment, and strengthening rural and urban tourism and also elaborated on the objectives of the Ministry’s Homestay/B&B initiative and opportunities available for local entrepreneurs in tourism industry.
Shri Jagannath Behera, Tourist Information Officer, India Tourism, Bhubaneswar, explained the procedures, eligibility criteria, and registration process on NIDHI+ portal.
Ms. Minati Sahu, Managing Director, Hotel Mahalakshmi Palace, shared valuable industry insights and practical experiences, motivating participants to adopt quality standards, hospitality ethics, and customer-centric services for successful homestay operations.

The interactive session witnessed enthusiastic participation, with stakeholders engaging in discussions and seeking clarifications on operational, marketing, and regulatory aspects of homestay establishments. The workshop concluded with a positive response, reinforcing the India Tourism Bhubaneswar office commitment towards promotion of Homestay /B&B establishment in Odisha.
