Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas stated that Rajasthan Day (19 March 2026) will be celebrated in a grand manner this year under the joint aegis of the Tourism Department and the Departments of Art, Literature & Culture, and Archaeology. He emphasized that artists representing various art forms of the state should be provided a prominent platform during the celebrations. He also directed that a large-scale, one-day art and culture–based conclave be organized in Jaipur in his presence.

The directions were issued during a review meeting of the Tourism Department and the Departments of Art, Literature & Culture, and Archaeology held at the Secretariat on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas, in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism and Art, Literature and Culture and Archaeology) Shri Praveen Gupta and Tourism Commissioner Smt. Rukmani Riar.

The Chief Secretary reviewed the Tourism Department’s performance under “Rising Rajasthan” and described tourism as economically significant for the state. He noted that over the past two years, the Rajasthan Tourism Department has achieved remarkable success and enjoys strong visibility on social media platforms. He highlighted that Rajasthan’s art, literature, and culture are equally important, attracting global attention.

Encouraging officials, he said it is a matter of pride to work for Rajasthan Tourism and urged them to continue working with greater energy and dedication.

Tourism Commissioner Rukmani Riyad, while giving a presentation, informed that the State Tourism Policy 2025 has been implemented and the new Rajasthan Film Promotion Policy 2025 has also been issued. She stated that Rajasthan is home to nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites and that the state has recorded a historic increase in domestic tourist arrivals this year. She added that the Tourism Department is performing well in the tourism marketing segment.

The Commissioner further stated that alongside domestic tourism promotion, foreign tourism promotion is also being targeted. Rajasthan Tourism’s YouTube channel ranks fourth across India, reflecting strong digital outreach. She also provided updates on the progress of budget announcements and informed about the strengthening of the Tourist Security Force, including increased deployment of women security personnel.

Reviewing the Art, Literature, Culture, and Archaeology Departments, the Chief Secretary said Rajasthan possesses a rich cultural heritage. To ensure that the state’s cultural grandeur, literature, and glorious history reach every citizen, he directed that each academy related to language, literature, and art organize at least one major event annually.

He stressed the need to preserve and promote the state’s rich art, culture, and literature and reiterated instructions to organize a large-scale, one-day cultural conclave in Jaipur in his presence.

The Chief Secretary also directed that art and literary institutions be revitalized. Expressing concern over the limited publication of books by academies, he instructed that works of prominent Rajasthani writers be published. He directed that books on various subjects by at least 15 leading writers from Rajasthan be published.

He remarked that Rajasthan is unique in India for having institutions representing every dimension of literature, art, and culture, and these institutions should be effectively utilized to promote cultural growth. He urged departmental officials to work with full energy to promote literature and art.

The Chief Secretary also instructed comprehensive publicity for events organized at Ravindra Manch and Jawahar Kala Kendra. He emphasized providing larger platforms and better opportunities to artists associated with performing arts.

Additionally, he directed that vacant posts in the Tourism, Art, Literature & Culture, and Archaeology Departments be filled on priority and that positions eligible for departmental promotion be filled promptly.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Tourism Department, Art & Culture Department, Archaeology Department, Rajasthan Heritage Authority, Rajasthan State Archives (Bikaner), Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi (Udaipur), Arabic-Persian Research Institute (Tonk), Jaipur Kathak Kendra, Rajasthani Language, Literature & Culture Academy (Bikaner), Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal (Udaipur), Rajasthan Sanskrit Academy (Jaipur), Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi, Punjabi Academy, Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Akademi, and other concerned officers.
