Chief Minister Mr. Samrat Choudhary today inaugurated the Chief Minister Bihar Heli Tourism and Air Tourism Service Scheme-2026 at the ‘Samvad’ auditorium in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that Bihar is no longer just a land of history and faith but is rapidly emerging as a strong centre for modern tourism. Bihar aims to establish itself on the global tourism map. This scheme will usher in a new era for the state’s tourism sector and provide affordable air tourism facilities to the general public. He said Bihar has been the centre of great civilizations and cultures associated with Lord Buddha, Lord Mahavir, the world-renowned Nalanda University, and the ancient Magadh Empire. The state government’s objective is to give these historical, religious, and cultural heritage sites a new identity at both the national and international levels and attract more tourists to Bihar.

The Chief Minister said that under the Chief Minister Bihar Heli Tourism and Air Tourism Service Scheme-2026, helicopter services will be available to major tourist destinations such as Patna, Rajgir, Valmikinagar, and Kaimur. With substantial government subsidies on each ticket, these services will be affordable for the general public. Bookings will begin on 13 July 2026, and regular helicopter services will operate every Saturday and Sunday from 18 July 2026. He urged the Tourism Department to further expand air tourism and involve private stakeholders in the initiative.

The Chief Minister said that tourism is not merely a means of travel but a strong foundation for employment, investment, and economic development. The state government is strengthening the tourism-based economy across villages by promoting homestays, local handicrafts, folk culture, local cuisine, and rural tourism, thereby creating new employment and self-employment opportunities for youth and local communities.
The Chief Minister said that every citizen of Bihar is the state’s greatest brand ambassador. He appealed to all residents to promote Bihar’s rich culture, heritage, tourist destinations, hospitality, and traditions through their conduct. When every citizen becomes an ambassador of tourism, Bihar’s identity will become stronger across the country and the world, and the tourism sector will reach new heights.
The Chief Minister said that the Bihar Government is continuously working to develop world-class tourism infrastructure. New tourism circuits are being developed. Two major hotels are being built in Patna, which will generate substantial royalty. Tourist destinations associated with Lord Buddha such as Rajgir and Bodh Gaya, places associated with Lord Mahavir such as Lachhuar and Vaishali, Baba Hariharnath Temple in Sonpur, Maa Mundeshwari Temple, Valmikinagar, Bhimbandh Forest, Nalanda University, and the glorious legacy of Magadh should be showcased to the country and the world.

Bihar should be promoted as a tourism destination. The Bihar Museum is the finest museum in the country, and Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has also visited it. Visitors from outside the state also admire the Bapu Tower. No other state has rural roads as good as Bihar. Our villages are equipped with roads, electricity, water, and other essential infrastructure. A ropeway is being planned from J.P. Ganga Path to Baba Hariharnath Temple in Sonpur. Private investment in tourism is also being encouraged through the PPP model.
The Chief Minister said that the government is committed to fulfilling Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Developed India’ and former Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar’s dream of a ‘Prosperous Bihar’. He stated that the Chief Minister Bihar Heli Tourism and Air Tourism Service Scheme-2026 will prove to be a milestone for the state’s tourism sector and will establish Bihar among the country’s leading tourism destinations while accelerating employment, investment, and overall economic development.
During the programme, the Chief Minister presented dummy cheques to stakeholders under the Bihar Tourism Policy 2023 and distributed certificates to beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Homestay Promotion Scheme.
The programme was also addressed by Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Tourism Minister Mr. Kedar Prasad Gupta, and Tourism Department Secretary Mr. Lokesh Kumar Singh.
During the programme, Tourism Department Secretary Mr. Lokesh Kumar Singh welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him with a green plant.
The event was attended by Chief Secretary Mr. Pratyaya Amrit, Chief Minister’s Secretary Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Civil Aviation Department Secretary Mr. Nilesh Ramchandra Deore, Tourism Director Mr. Udayan Mishra, Managing Director of Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Limited Mr. Nand Kishore, along with other senior officials, stakeholders, beneficiaries, and distinguished guests.
