Van Rāsa, a new forest born luxury sanctuary in the Himalayas, has opened its doors, introducing a more intimate way to experience the hills. True to its name, inspired by the essence (Rāsa) of the forest (Van) that surrounds it, Van Rāsa sits amidst lush forests, opening out to panoramic views of the snow-clad Dhauladhar range in winter. The 16-key boutique retreat brings together distinctive architecture, unobtrusive hospitality, immersive wellness and curated culinary experiences.
“Kasauli has a certain quiet magic to it, and building Van Rāsa here felt as much about restraint as ambition,” said Vaibhv Vardhan, Managing Director, Van Rāsa. “We didn’t want another hotel competing for attention, we wanted a place guests could disappear into, where the mountains do the talking. That’s the experience we’ve spent years designing toward, and today, it’s real. we look forward to offering travellers a more considered way to experience Kasauli and the Himalayas.”
The hotel’s four room collections draw on Scandinavian, English Classic and European Neoclassical design, with high ceilings, skylights, private terraces and heated plunge pools.
At the heart of the culinary experience is Syāhi, the hotel’s multi-cuisine restaurant and bar. Featuring 30-foot glass walls and French-inspired interiors, Syāhi serves Indian and international cuisine alongside in-house bakes and wood-fired pizzas. An outdoor deck and weekend live music add to the experience. Neer, the hotel’s wellness sanctuary, features an indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, ice bath, separate steam and sauna facilities, and skylit massage rooms. Guests can also unwind at the dedicated Yoga Deck or The Den, a recreation lounge with a gym, pool table and board games.

Design, for me, has always been about restraint: knowing when to let a view or a material speak for itself. That instinct shaped every corner of Van Rāsa, from the light in the rooms to the materials we chose to age gracefully with the mountains. Van Rāsa is as much a design philosophy as it is a hotel, and I’m proud to see it realised.”
Beyond the hotel, Van Rāsa offers curated experiences including nature walks, picnics and a traditional Himachali Dham, along with evening bonfires on the terrace. Designed for slow, soulful stays, Van Rāsa offers travellers to step away from the pace of everyday life and discover the rare luxury of privacy and stillness.
Van Rāsa is well-connected from both Delhi and Chandigarh. The nearest airport is Chandigarh, roughly two hours away by road; the closest railhead is Kalka, on the historic Kalka–Shimla line, about 35 km from the hotel. By road, Van Rāsa is approximately a five-to-six-hour drive from Delhi, and a 59-km drive from Chandigarh through winding hill roads.
