Tree Plantation Activity at SIHM Durgapur on the Occasion of World Tourism Day 2026 On the occasion of World Tourism Day 2026, the State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM), Durgapur organised a tree plantation activity on 28th September 2026, reaffirming its commitment towards environmental sustainability and responsible tourism.
The plantation drive was actively participated in by Dr. Santanu Dasgupta, Principal, SIHM Durgapur, along with the faculty members, administrative staff, miscellaneous staff and students of the Institute.
The collective participation reflected the Institute’s endeavour to instil environmental consciousness and a sense of responsibility towards nature among the entire SIHM community. The initiative highlighted the close relationship between tourism, environment and sustainable development.
As an institution dedicated to hospitality and tourism education, SIHM Durgapur recognises that responsible tourism must go hand in hand with the preservation of natural resources and the creation of greener and healthier surroundings.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Santanu Dasgupta, Principal, SIHM Durgapur, said: “Tourism can truly be sustainable only when we respect and protect the environment that makes every destination special. Through this tree plantation initiative, we wish to encourage our students and the entire SIHM family to become responsible citizens and ambassadors of sustainable tourism. The activity served not merely as a plantation drive but as a meaningful World Tourism Day commitment towards sustainability, bringing together the entire SIHM Durgapur community in a shared effort to nurture nature and promote the values of responsible tourism. State Institute of Hotel Management, Durgapur continues to encourage initiatives that combine hospitality education with environmental responsibility, social awareness and sustainable practices.
