In a major strategic push to position the state on the global travel map, the Government of Bihar has successfully concluded a series of high-profile tourism roadshows in London and Manchester, United Kingdom. Led by Bihar Tourism Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta and Tourism Department Director Udayan Mishra, the high-level delegation engaged with international tour operators, global investors, and key hospitality stakeholders to showcase the state’s deep heritage and secure foreign investment.

The roadshows focused heavily on Bihar’s unique historical legacy as the cradle of the world’s oldest knowledge systems and spiritual traditions. The delegation highlighted lucrative investment opportunities emerging across the state’s rapidly developing tourism and hospitality sectors, emphasizing infrastructure scaling and international collaboration.

“Bihar is the holy land of Lord Buddha and Lord Mahavir, holding an eternal spiritual appeal for global travellers,” Tourism Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta stated during the London roadshow. “Iconic destinations like Bodhgaya, Rajgir, Nalanda, Vaishali, and Pavapuri offer unparalleled historical and cultural value. The state government is fully committed to elevating this rich heritage globally, driving international investments, and generating robust local employment opportunities.”
A central element of the state’s pitch to the UK market was its comprehensive Buddhist Circuit, alongside newly developed spiritual corridors and fast-growing eco-tourism destinations. By targeting major European travel hubs, the initiative marks a significant step forward in transforming Bihar into a premier hub for international cultural and heritage tourism.
With the state government actively working to secure greater international recognition for its cultural treasures, Bihar aims to firmly establish itself as a top-tier global destination by transforming its ancient legacy into a modern economic driver.
In a major push to elevate the state’s profile on the international stage, the Department of Tourism has unveiled a comprehensive global initiative aimed at transforming Bihar into a premier hub for international travellers.
“Our ultimate aim is to establish Bihar as one of the leading destinations of world tourism,” the Tourism Minister stated during a high-level press briefing. Emphasising the state’s deep cultural roots, the minister added, “Bihar’s unparalleled historical and spiritual heritage is our greatest strength. We are constantly striving to give it the global recognition it truly deserves by upgrading infrastructure and showcasing our rich legacy to the world.”
Senior officials within the department expect this new international marketing initiative to significantly boost the global promotion of Bihar’s diverse tourist circuits, particularly its renowned Buddhist, Jain, and Ramayana trails. The newly drafted strategy focuses heavily on driving up foreign tourist arrivals over the next fiscal year. Furthermore, the government aims to leverage this global spotlight to unlock fresh investment inflows and foster strategic public-private partnership (PPP) opportunities across the state’s rapidly developing hospitality and tourism sectors.
