Adding inspiration to the morning, renowned actor and director Satrajeet Sen graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and officially flagged off the Cyclathon, encouraging participants to embrace sustainable living and healthier lifestyle choices.
More than just a cycling event, Pedal for a Purpose served as a powerful movement advocating environmentally responsible choices and encouraging individuals to adopt cycling as a sustainable mode of transportation. By choosing bicycles over fuel-powered vehicles, participants embraced a simple yet impactful way to reduce carbon emissions, conserve fossil fuels, lower transportation costs, improve personal health, and contribute towards preserving nature for generations to come.
Further strengthening the initiative’s environmental impact, Novotel Kolkata Hotel & Residences pledged to plant one sapling for every participant registration. Each sapling was planted, symbolizing that every rider contributed not only to reducing carbon emissions through cycling but also to creating a greener environment. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the hospitality fraternity, corporate professionals, cycling clubs, fitness enthusiasts, and local residents, reflecting the community’s growing commitment towards environmental stewardship and healthier lifestyles. The successful execution of the event was made possible with the invaluable support of the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, New Town Police Station, New Town Traffic Guard, and ECO Park Police Station, whose seamless coordination ensured the safety and smooth movement of participants throughout the ride. The event was further strengthened by the dedicated support of the Sportiz team, whose expertise in sports event management and on-ground coordination played a pivotal role in the successful planning and execution of the Cyclathon.
The ride commenced from Novotel Kolkata Hotel & Residences, proceeded via the service road to the Eco Park Eiffel Tower, and concluded at the hotel after participants completed the return journey. The scenic route offered cyclists an invigorating morning ride while symbolizing the journey towards cleaner mobility, reduced dependence on fossil fuels, and a more sustainable future.
