Within the next one year, Air India Express is going to double its flight capacity from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, said Mr. Raj Kumar Bhattacharya, Regional Sales Head ( East India) of Air India Express.
Talking to The Travel and Tourism Times, Mr. Raj Kumar Bhattacharya, Regional Sales Head ( East India) of Air India Express has informed that about a year ago the airline used to operate ten flights in five destinations, but today it operates 25 flights daily and connects 15 destinations.
“ There are several new routes on the pipeline. From 1 st June 2025 we will be introducing flights to Dibrugarh and Varanasi. Ranchi flights will also be launched soon. We are the only airline to start exclusive connectivity between Kolkata and Kochi and Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad,”added Mr. Raj Kumar Bhattacharya.
Passengers are getting business class in the economic class prices in thirteen flights and the air fares of 25 flights are also comparatively low. “Passengers are getting business class tickets at Rs.12,000 to Rs.13,000 in those 13 flights and due to this affordable prices the Bagdogra, Guwahati, Agartala, Bhuvaneswar flight routes are mostly popular. All the flights from Kolakat to destinations like Kochi, Port Blair, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Agartala, Hyderabad, Bagdogra remains almost fully booked,”he said.
Mr.Raj Kumar Bhattacharya further added that the passengers of Air India Express also prefer the Pre Purchased food on board. “ Currently we are in an expansion mode and in the next one year we have planned to double our strength in Kolkata and eastern India by adding more aircrafts and new destinations,”he said.

Mr. Manav Soni, national committee member of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) has welcomed Air India Express and said that it is a very good news for both the passengers, travel agents and airlines fraternity that the airline is set to double its flight services from Kolkata within the next one year.
TAAI has recently organized a symposium on ‘ The Journey of Airlines in the Indian Sky,’ to explore the future of aviation sector in the country. The event was hosted by India Tourism, Kolkata Office.
