KOLKATA, 19 MAY 2023:
The process of business is essentially a discovery process.
Every week there is a churn in the existing market : customers’ choice is changing, so is the price, the packaging and so on.
Parallely, new markets and new products and services are sprouting up .
It is a kind of game like snake and ladder in a Ludo set.
More than 60% of the population of India are in the age group 25 to 55 years.
For the tourism sector, a new market is emerging – Bicycle Tourism for the young.
Bicycle Tourism is catching up in India. Quite a few companies are operating and they are doing good.
If you search Google and explore information on bicycle vacation in India, you will find 50 different types of bicycle tours ranging from 5 to 20 days.
The average cost of tours vary between Rs. 7000/- to Rs. 1,20000/-.
To understand how the package is designed and promoted here is an example.

The global cycle tourism market is growing. It stands around $ 116.73 billion and it is growing at the rate of 9% per year.
Key reasons are:
1. Growing interest among youth for adventure camping and adventure sports.
2. Governments across economies recognize cycle tourism as a means of sustainable economic development.
3. Growth of the E- bike industry.
Availability of E- bikes at affordable price and growing interest of the youth in adventure sports and camping – is creating a new market for Bicycle Tourism.
But, the growth of this genre of tourism can only happen when State Tourism Departments take policy initiatives and provide incentives to startups.
