The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR), a UNESCO World Heritage site and a cornerstone of India’s mountain tourism, is pleased to announce a significant surge in both passenger volume and annual earnings for the 2025–26 financial year.

These results underscore the enduring global appeal of the “Heritage Train” and the success of recent strategic enhancements to the traveller experience. During the financial year 2024–25, DHR recorded a total passenger footfall of 1,83,003, with corresponding earnings of ₹22,12,32,355. The growth serves as a vital engine for the local economy, supporting hundreds of livelihoods across the Darjeeling hills.
