KOLKATA, 1 JUNE 2024:
The Tourism Ministry announced that the city of Cairo was chosen as the tourism capital of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for 2026.
This was announced during the preparatory sessions, currently being held in Uzbekistan, with the participation of a delegation from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, led by Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs Ghada Shalabi.
The meetings aim at setting the stage for the meeting of the tourism ministers of the OIC member states in June.
Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa, lauded the selection of Cairo as the tourism capital of the OIC member states for 2026, particularly in light of its diverse tourism potentials.
The minister also underlined the ministry’s efforts to develop the product Cairo Short City Break that will make Cairo a unique tourist destination.
