KOLKATA, 12 JANUARY 2025:
Bureau Following the promulgation of the Development Blueprint for Hong Kong’s Tourism Industry 2.0 (“the Blueprint”) by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau today (30 December), Dr Pang Yiu-kai, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), welcomed the Blueprint and emphasised that HKTB will do its best to implement the measures recommended in the Blueprint.
Dr Pang said, “Development Blueprint for Hong Kong’s Tourism Industry 2.0 provides crystal clear strategic guidelines for the long-term growth of Hong Kong’s tourism, which is imperative for driving the sustainable development of the industry. The Blueprint also encourages cross-departmental and cross-industry partnerships at various levels, consolidating the efforts across the city to further establish Hong Kong as a world-class travel destination and internation tourism hub.”
HKTB will leverage its team’s professional know-how and global network to fully support the measures in the Blueprint and will work closely with the travel trade to maximise the contribution of tourism to the overall economy. HKTB has long capitalised on Hong Kong’s unique elements to promote “+tourism” experiences, such as the continuous optimisation of our “Hong Kong Neighbour hoods” promotions, which have encouraged the travel trade to roll out related tourism products. In addition, HKTB has also seized the immense potential of the Muslim segment to roll out a series of initiatives to educate the trade and encourage them to uplift Muslim-friendly facilities and obtain relevant certification to fully tap into this visitor segment.
Dr Pang continued, “As we welcome the commission of Kai Tak Sports Park and the third runway at Hong Kong International Airport, the gradual recovery of air capacity, combined with Hong Kong’s unparalleled edge as a Super-connector between the Mainland and overseas cities, I have great confidence in the outlook for Hong Kong’s tourism industry.”
