Well known singer and state minister of informations and cultural affairs, Indranil Sen has become the new tourism minister of West Bengal today. He has replaced Mr. Babul Supriyo, former bolywood playback singer and central minister.
Recently, Mr. Indranil Sen has been appointed as the chairman of West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation (WBTDC) replacing Smt. Nandini Chakraborty, who is the Principal Secretary of the state tourism department.
With the Durga Puja , barely a month away, the biggest carnival of the state and bagging the UNESCO cultuiral heritage tag, since last year there has been huge gatherings of foreign toursits to West Bengal.
The appointment of Mr. Indranil Sen comes at  a very crucial time. State chief minister Miss Mamata Banerjee plans to boost the travel and tourism sector in the state and is taking several measures to develop the infrastructure.
She will be visiting abroad from tomorrow and will scout for investments from Spain and Dubai.
Mr. Anil Punjabi, member of national Executive Committee of Travel Agents Federation of India, Mr. Bilolaksha Das, chairman ( east) of Travel Agents Federation of India, Mr. manav Soni, Chairman ( east) of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), Mr. Amin Ashgar, President, Skal International ( Kolkata), Mr. Amitava Sarkar, President, Travel Agents Association of Bengal, all have welcomed the appointment of Mr. Indranil Sen as the new tourism minister of West Bengal.
Mr. Babul Supriyo has been made the minister of Information Technology and Electronics and  renewable energy.
