Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy recently has followed up the progress made in the pilot operation of a service development project in the Giza Pyramid Complex.
Orascom Pyramids Entertainment (OPE), a subsidiary of Orascom Investment Holding (OIH) began working on the project on April 8.
During an expanded meeting at the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) with Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) Mohamed Khaled, and a host of senior officials from the company and the state bodies concerned, the minister discussed some visions and proposals for improving the pilot operation program to elevate visitor experience, taking into account smooth movement of visitors and the unique archaeological nature of the site.
The meeting also tackled the lessons learned since the launch of the pilot operation program, as well as the challenges faced during implementation.
Participants also proposed practical solutions to overcome these challenges to achieve the desired goals of the project.
Meanwhile, Fathy emphasized the importance of maintaining full coordination between the company, the Egyptian Travel Agents Association (ETTA), the Egyptian General Tourist Guides Syndicate (EGTGS), and the Supreme Council of Antiquities through regular meetings to follow up on adequate execution of agreed proposals.
He highlighted the concerted efforts of all the various bodies concerned to comply with previously developed plans for a successful pilot operation.
The ministry’s inspectors in Giza Necropolis have been following up on the pilot operation at archaeological sites and bus stops to ensure smooth transportation and organize visitors’ movement through the entry and exit points and routes specified by the authorities concerned.
