( Natak Akademi organizes ‘Kala-Diksha’ – Honouring the Guru Shishya Parampara & Veteran Artists)

NEW DELHI, 13 DECEMBER 2023:
Sangeet Natak Akademi, an autonomous body of Ministry of Culture, Government of India organized ‘Kala-Diksha’ ceremony, today, at Rabindra Bhawan, New Delhi. On the occasion, Gurus associated with training programmes in various performing arts, based on Guru-Shishya tradition, were honoured. Union Culture Minister , G. Kishan Reddy was the chief guest at the felicitation ceremony.
Dr. Sandhya Purecha, Chairman of Sangeet Natak Akademi and Mrs. Uma Nanduri, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Reddy stated that the government is committed for preservation and promotion of India’s vast intangible valuable cultural heritage and all necessary measures are being taken to facilitate the transmission of these abstract art forms from one generation to the next.
Many schemes related to performing arts and welfare of artists have been started by the Govt of India. Training programmes in various performing art forms are being conducted as per the Guru-Shishya parampara. Under this scheme, more than 70 such new training programs as per Guru-Shishya parampara are being started by the Sangeet Natak Akademi in various States viz. Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
30 such training programs are already being conducted. Thus, now the number of these training programs will increase from 30 to 100.
