Mr. Robert Romawia Royte, minister of state, sports and youth services, tourism, information has laid the foundation stone of the development of Village Based Eco Tourism in Khamrang in Mizoram.
On the occassion ,Mr. Pu K.S. Laldawngliana, MLA, Vice Chairman, Commerce & Industrial Development Board , Mr.TC Pachhunga, Vice Chairman, Tourism Development Board, Mizoram and other dignitaries were present.
Mizoram Tourism Minister, who was the chief guest, spoke at Community Hall, Khamrang on Village Based Eco Tourism in Khamrang village and the foundation stone was laid, which was as per the responsible Tourism Policy of Mizoram government.
The state government is promoting the tourism of Mizoram nationwide, he said.
Mr. Robert Romaiya Royte has said that Mizoram is a state with great potential. The state government is working under the guidance of the chief minister and the priorties set by him have been strictly followed.
He wished the people of Khamrang all the best and said that this eco tourism project will promote the Mizo identity, culture and religion.
He said that Responsible Tourism will be promoted and Village Based Eco Tourism project will be established to benefit the villagers of the project area.
Reiek, Hmuifang, Thenzawl and now Khamrang village to become a tourist destination.
He said that this a major project of the state government and there will be sports grounds for the youth, the scheme is being implemented in the country.
Chief Guest Mr.TC Pachhunga, Vice Chairman of Tourism Development Board said Tourism development project worth Rs 800 lakhs in Khamrang village Tourism will start soon.
Urging that Khamrang Tourism development project will be a pioneer he said that he hope that local people should work on cleanliness, wildlife, trees and soil conservation.
Mr. V Lalengmawia, Jt. Secretary, Tourism Department presented Technical Report on Tourism Development in Khamrang. The union Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) under North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) will fund the project cost of the Mizoram’s first Responsible Tourism flagship project to be developed.
The project is scheduled to be completed within two years. In the process components – Khamrang Village, Khamrang Cave, Lungkulh, Bak Luk Trekking, Lungkhawthlir, Thangruma places will be redeveloped for more easier and more comfort.
Mr. Saitluanga, Director,tourism Department said that the Tourism Department was established with only 34 Officers and staff and 3 Tourist Lodges, Saitual, Chaltlang and Kolasib Tourist Lodges.The meeting was attended by Dr. Lalrozama, IAS, Secretary,
