- Discussion Focuses on Giving Bihar Tourism Global Recognition

World Tourism Day has been celebrated annually on 27 September since 1980. On this occasion, the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) organized a grand seminar and discussion at Sikh Heritage Bhawan, Daroga Prasad Rai Path, Patna. The objective of the event was to give Bihar’s tourism sector a new identity and present it on a global platform.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nandkishore, Managing Director of BSTDC, stated that the government is committed to preserving Bihar’s historical sites while also developing modern tourism infrastructure. A discussion was held with stakeholders on this year’s tourism theme, “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.” Participants, including hoteliers, industry leaders, tour operators, and members of tourism associations, shared their views on enhancing tourism awareness, promoting small tourism businesses, and increasing community and cultural engagement in tourism.
To mark World Tourism Day, BSTDC announced a 10% discount for one day (27 September) on the fixed tariffs of its self-operated facilities, including:
- Pre-paid Taxi Counter at Patna Airport
- MV Kautilya Vihar Cruise Service
- Aerial Ropeway at Rajgir
- Aerial Ropeway at Mandar, Banka
- Prakash Kunj
- Various BSTDC Hotels
Additionally, domestic and foreign tourists arriving at Patna Airport were welcomed with a rose flower as a gesture of hospitality from the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation.
The event was attended by senior officials of the tourism corporation, tourism experts, academicians, and researchers. Speakers elaborated on Bihar’s rich cultural heritage, historic landmarks, religious tourism centers, and folk art traditions. They emphasized that Bihar’s identity is not only tied to its historical glory but also to its spiritual and cultural diversity. The need for modern tourism facilities and strong promotional efforts was highlighted to make destinations such as Nalanda, Rajgir, Vaishali, Bodh Gaya, Patna Sahib, and Champaran internationally attractive.

The seminar concluded with a collective call to strengthen Bihar’s tourism landscape, ensuring that the state’s historical, spiritual, and cultural treasures gain the global recognition they deserve.
