The Department of Tourism, announces the cancellation of The Spirit of Goa Festival scheduled for 3rd and 4th May 2025 at the SAG Grounds, Colva.
This decision was taken in light of the tragic incident at the Lairai Zatra in Shirgao, where a stampede occurred, leading to loss of lives and injuries.
The Department prioritizes the safety, well-being, and sentiments of the people of Goa during this difficult time and expresses its deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.
Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant has expressed condolences for the families of the Stampede victims in the Lairai Zatra Shirgaon Temple and also visited the hospital where the injured devotees are undergoing treatments.
Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has also expressed his deep condolences for the Temple stampede in Goa today.
Seven dead and over 70 people are injured in the stampede in Lairai Zatra Shirgao Temple today in North Goa.
