On 11th September 2025, under the auspices of Rotary Club Supremo, a program was organized in the premises of Rotary Club Library to mark the birth anniversary of the eminent Rajasthani poet, Late Mr. Kanhaiyalal Sethia.
Speaking as the first speaker, Mr.Hinglaj Dan Ratnoo, Public Relations Officer of the Government of Rajasthan, who had come from Kolkata, said that among the many gems born on the soil of Rajasthan, Mr. Sethia made a significant contribution to the growth of language. Sharing memories of his Mauritius visit, he mentioned how the vibrant expression of Sethia Ji’s poetry on foreign soil fills one with pride. In his address, Shri Hinglaj Ji vividly described Sethia Ji’s personality and works through unique Rajasthani couplets.

The second speaker, Dr. Gaurishankar Prajapat, said that Sethia Ji not only contributed to Rajasthani but also worked in Hindi and Urdu. His works include Dharti Dhora Ri and PathalriPeethal. He emphasized that the song Dharti Dhora Ri should be declared the state song. For his nationalist poetry during the freedom movement, he was regarded as the “poet of the era.” He is not just the poet of Rajasthan but of the entire nation. He remains eternal and timeless, even through a single creation of his, regardless of whether it is in Rajasthani.
Adding his thoughts, Mr. Jagdish Dan Ratnoo said that Sethia Ji was completely devoted to Mayad language, Rajasthani. He stressed that efforts must be made for the recognition of the Rajasthani language, as that would be the truest tribute to him.

Continuing the discussion, Mr. M. L. Jangid said that Sethia Ji deserves credit for igniting the emotions of the masses to a higher level. The way he gave life and form to words is remarkable.
As the chief guest, Rotarian Mr. Praveen Gupta said that while promoting the growth of the Rajasthani language, every household should practice reading Rajasthani to build a foundation for the recognition of the language. In his presidential address, former Professor Majula Barahath said that Mr. Sethia Ji was a poet deeply rooted in national consciousness and the soil of the land. Rotary Secretary , Mr. Alok Pratap Singh shared details of the work being done by the Rotary Club for the promotion of Rajasthani language and literature.
The seminar was coordinated by former secretary of the Rajasthani Language and Literature Academy, Mr. Prithviraj Ratnu. Participants included Dr. Kishan Lal Vishnoi, Yogendra Kumar Purohit, Dr. Farukh Chauhan, Subhash Vishnoi, Rishi Vyas, Vimal Bhojak, and Mahendra Singh.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Amar Singh Khangarot of Rotary Club Library, Bikaner to all the dignitaries present.
