The Ajmer Municipal Corporation has received a proposal for cruise service, which is slated to be first cruise service in the state of Rajasthan. And if every thing goes smoothly, then the first cruise service in Rajasthan will begin from first week of March this year.
Ajmer city situated in the state of Rajasthan has been a tourism hotspot for both domestic and international tourists.
About 150 tourists can be ferried by the double decker cruise. The cruise will fetch Ajmer Municipal Corporation an additional revenue of Rs.66 lakhs per annum, sources said.
The proposed cruise service will be on the 12 century old artificial Ana Sagar Lake in Ajmer. It was built by Emperor Ajai Chauhhan, the grand father of Prithivi Raj Chauhan. The lake is about 4.4 metres deep and spreads over an area of 12 kilometres. It is surrounded by the Daulat Bagh Gradens.
Both domestic and international tourists visit the pilgrimage centre of Ajmer for the Ajmer Sharif Darga ( shrine of Khaja Main Uddin Chisti) and Ajmer Jain Temple or the Soni Ji Ki Nasiya Jain Temple.
Tourists will be able to enjoy the scenic beauty of Ajmer from the cruise. The path of the cruise will be different from the boats presently operating on the lake.
The cruise will be jointly operated by Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) and a private company.
“ The cruise service will further boost the local tourism in the area and provide more job opportunities,”said Mr. Ravindra Saini, assistant engineer of Ajmer Municipal Corporation.
The rates are yet to be finalised and the tickets will be avaiable from company’s website and through travel agents.
There will be live local music and cultural shows and a restaurant on board.Even tourists can pre book the cruise for parties.
The proposed cruise services will be a life time experience and opportunity for the tourists to see the rich cultural heritage of the state of Rajasthan.
The best time to visit is from October to March when the weather remains very pleasant and the lake remains full of water.
Recently, the Rajasthan tourism department has started its first helicopter service for aerial view in the desert sand dunes in Jaisalmer to boost tourism.
