HONG KONG, 2 MARCH 2023:

Dr Pang Yiu-kai, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), expressed his warm welcomes in response to the Government’s announcement on the lifting of maskwearing rule starting from 1 March 2023, and was encouraged by the arrangement.

Dr Pang said, “As the mandatory mask-wearing rule is lifted, all social-distancing measures in Hong Kong have come to an end. Both the local public and all visitors from around the world can now enjoy the many experiences in Hong Kong to the fullest. This not only directly marks Hong Kong’s full return to normal, but also gives a shot in the arm to the revival of our tourism industry.”

Dr Pang continued, “The Hong Kong Tourism Board will immediately broadcast this good news to Mainland and overseas visitor source markets and will invite visitors to Hong Kong to enjoy our diverse international mega events, dynamic cityscape, inspiring great outdoors, and other brand-new experiences that our city and its new attractions have to offer, and say ‘Hello Hong Kong’ to us.”

After almost  945 days Hong Kong has lifted the mask mandate. Earlier $1000 fines have been imposed for not wearing mask in the city of Hong Kong.

The Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI), Eastern India unit  and Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) Easter India unit have welcomed the move by the Hong Kong government.

Most of the countries in the world has lifted the  mandatory mask wearing  mandate after the world gradually restores back to normalcy.

It was a long awaited move by the government of Hong Kong and the city is picking up the  pace on its road to recovery  since the past few weeks in the tourism sector, said Mr. Anil Punjabi, Chairman ( east) of Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI).

Hong Kong has largely followed the Zero Covid policy of Mainland China since the past three years. From 1 March people will not require to wear masks both in indoors and in outdoors.
