India Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), the largest hospitality chain in South Asia has recently tied up with Citi Residenci to set up Taj Vivanta and Ginger hotels in Durgapur and Asansol. The first project is going to start at Banscopa in Kanksha near Durgapur and will be a Ginger Hotel.
Few days ago, the owner of Citi Residenci, Kabi Dutta, went to Mumbai with his family and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed, top sources said.
When contacted by The Travel and Tourism Times, Kabi Dutta, owner of Citi Residenci , which has multiple hotels in Durgapur and Asansol of Paschim bardhaman district of West Bengal has confirmed the development.
“ Yes we have tied up with IHCL for operations of hotels at our properties in Asansol and Durgapur sub divisions,”said Kabi Dutta.
Kabi Dutta is also the president of Durgapur Chamber of Commerce and Vice Chairman of Asansol Durgapur Development Corporation (ADDA) and is very close to state chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Wherever, CM Mamata Banerjee stays overnight at Durgapur, she stays at the Citi Residenci Hotel in City Centre in Durgapur.
Sources said that the existing properties of Citi Residenci will be leased out to IHCL in Durgapur and Asansol.
A Ginger Hotel will come up at the property of Citi Residenci in Ninghya in Asansol and another Ginger Hotel will come up on the property of Utsav Resort in banscopa in Kanksha in Durgapur beside NH19.
The Vivanta Hotels will come up at City Centre in Durgapur Citi Residenci and Shristi Nagar greenfield five star hotel project in Asansol, sources related to the hotel industry informed.
