MUMBAI, 19 JUNE 2023:

“India has successfully launched the world’s longest river cruise, Ganga Vilas Cruise recently  originating from Varanasi  and traversing through 27 river fronts, including Kolkata and reaching Dibrugarh in Assam through Bangladesh. This voyage had 32 Swiss nationals landing at 50 airports from India. For the second season, we are seeing interest from a lot of European tourists.

This clearly shows th at India has a huge opportunity  for coastal, ocean and river cruising. With Costa sailing from Mumbai, it will only further strengthen the bilateral relationship between India and Italy. The current infrastructure we have built is state-of-the-art, and technologically advanced with seamless immigration procedure. We are further improving on the necessary clearances to further ease cruise travel.”

The cruise  ship will start sailing  from 8 November from Mumbai to Goa, Kochi and Lakshadweep.

“Glad to join the launch announcement of Costa Cruises domestic operation in Mumbai. India holds huge potential for cruise tourism and this launch will further add to the growth of the sector. My congratulations and best wishes to Costa Cruises for their India operations,” Mr. Sarbananda Sonowal later tweeted.

Mumbai Port completes 150 yearas and at this uncture Costa Cruises of Italy is also coming back after three years. Mr. Sonowal also urged to plan year round sailings and also foray in the east cost of the country.
