KARNATAKA CADRE 1991 BATCH IAS OFFICER, V.VIDYAVATHI TO TAKE OVER CHARGE AS NEW TOURISM SECRETARY OF INDIA FROM 1 JUNE 2023

KOLKATA, 27 APRIL 2023:

The Director General of Archaelogical Survey of India (ASI), V.Vidyavathi, who is a 1991 batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre will take over the charge of new tourism secretary of India from 1 June 2023.

She will be appointed as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of the rank of Secretary.

The present tourism secretary of India, Arvind Singh will superannuate on 31 May 2023. He has been working as the tourism secretary since 2019.  During his tenure, tourism in India has reached the peak period , despite the two disastroes years due to covid 19 global pandemic outbreak during which all international flights have been closed.

Mr. Arvind Singh has played a key role in implementing sustainable tourism, lighthouse tourism and  introducing River Cruises amongst others.

Smt. V.Vidyabathi will work closely with union minister of culture, tourism and development of north east region, G.Kishan Reddy.

Incredible India is promoting itself as a global destination for both international and domestic travellers.

As per the union budget 50 places in India will be developed to make global tourist destinations.
