The Bihar Tourism Department has issued a notification regarding granting in-principle approval under the Bihar Public Private Partnership (PPP) Infrastructure Development Enabling (Amendment) Rules 2023 for the construction and operation of two five-star hotels in Rajgir (Nalanda district) and one five-star resort in Kaimur district (Bhabua) to provide better facilities to tourists.

Nalanda district’s Rajgir and Kaimur district’s Bhabua have several important tourist destinations that attract a large number of tourists every year. To provide these tourists with convenient, high-quality, and world-class accommodation facilities, it is essential to construct five-star hotels and resorts. The construction of such hotels/resorts will not only fulfill the need for premium accommodation but also make Rajgir and other tourist areas of Bihar more attractive. As a result, tourism in the state will increase significantly.

Along with this, economic and social activities around these tourist places will also expand, which will create new opportunities for employment and trade.

Key points related to the construction of these five-star hotels/resorts are as follows:

  1. In Rajgir, on government land of around 10 acres, a five-star hotel will be constructed.
  2. In Kaimur district, on government land of around 10 acres, a five-star resort will be constructed.
  3. Through a competitive and transparent bidding process, private investors will be selected to build and operate these hotels/resorts on a lease basis for a fixed period. For this, detailed project reports (DPR) and tender documents will be prepared.
  4. The selected private investors will construct, operate, and manage these hotels/resorts as per government guidelines.

For this purpose, under the Bihar Public Private Partnership Infrastructure Development Enabling (Amendment) Rules 2023, in-principle approval has been granted by the Empowered Committee.

Dr. Kaulesh Kumar, Secretary General of Association of Buddhist Tour Operators (ABTO) has welcomed the latest intiatives of the Bihar Tourism department to set up five star hotels and resorts in Rajgir and Bhabua and said that it will further boost tourism in the state.
