Bihar Tourism Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta visited the historic Ambedkar House in London to pay tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution, Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. The visit underscores the ongoing global efforts to honour and preserve the legacy of one of India’s greatest social reformers.

During his tour of the memorial, Minister Gupta placed garlands and offered floral tributes at the statue of Baba Saheb. He spent significant time reviewing the historical archives, photographs, and rare memorabilia that document Dr. Ambedkar’s life, advanced education, and intense social struggles during his time living in the United Kingdom.

Highlighting the global impact of the visionary reformer, Minister Gupta emphasized that Dr. Ambedkar’s teachings transcend national boundaries. “Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s life was entirely dedicated to social justice, equality, education, and human dignity,” Gupta stated. “His ideas and ideals continue to serve as a vital source of inspiration not only for India but for the entire world.”

The Minister expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership for their institutional efforts in preserving Dr. Ambedkar’s global legacy. He noted that the historic London property, located at 10 King Henry’s Road in Chalk Farm, was acquired by the Maharashtra government in 2015. It was subsequently dedicated as an international memorial by Prime Minister Modi during his visit to the UK that same year.

“This initiative is a monumental step toward preserving Baba Saheb’s memory and passing his great legacy down to future generations,” Gupta added. “The efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to keep his memories alive and propagate his ideals among the masses are highly commendable. Such historical landmarks connect our youth with the struggles, sacrifices, and contributions of our great patriots in nation-building.”

Ambedkar House serves as a major cultural and historical landmark for the Indian diaspora and international visitors. Dr. Ambedkar lived in the house between 1921 and 1922 while studying for his doctoral thesis at the London School of Economics and preparing for the Bar at Gray’s Inn. The preservation of this site ensures that his formidable academic journey and formative political years remain accessible to researchers and followers worldwide.

Minister Gupta concluded his visit by emphasizing that the truest tribute to Baba Saheb lies not just in memorials, but in active civic responsibility. He called upon citizens and leaders alike to actively carry forward Dr. Ambedkar’s core ideals of equality, education, and social harmony to build a more inclusive society.
