Tourism has emerged as one of the world ‘s largest industries and the fastest growing sector of the Indian and World economy.Tourism in India has enormous economic implications; it is an important instrument for peace and harmony,socio economic development. Entrepreneurship and employment generation.
India is a country of all reason and all season and full of varities of tourist attractions and resources. Our rich tradition of heritage has created magnificent architectural styles, temple cities and towns with other fascinating monuments. India’s hills and mountains offer some of the finest sites to chill out and rejuvenate the mind, body and soul. The vast castline covering nine states offers a unique experience of beach tourism. So in a true sense, we possess the essential qualities of ‘Incredible Inida’,it’s a paradise for all types of tourists. In the global context, Indian tourism resources have become one of the prime attractions to the international and as well as domestic tourist communities in a large scale.
If you like to know about other culture, society & ready to work hard, tourism would be the right choice. Student of travel tourism should have to develop essential requisite qualities (communication skill, personality, presentable, knowledge of world geography & history, familiar with travel software, sound knowledge of tourism industry) to be a professional to establish in the competitive market.
A fresher can start his /her career with a starting salary of Rs.5,000 but it varies from organization to organization also from city to city. After spending few years an invidual can can earn more than 50,000 pm. But it depends on the managerial effectiveness of the candidate.
On the other hand, those who are ready to take risks, having some innovative idea can start their own enterprise. Kolkata is the perfect site to start a new travel enterprise, as Bengalis love to travel. Bengal as a state cannot afford to miss the opportunities for economic development, employment generation and foreign exchange earnings from tourism. The state should strive to achieve a better tourist growth through infrastructure development, development of new products improvement and proper mix of new products and innovative strategies.
The varieties that Bengal tourism offers have always evoked great interest in people from all over the world.Particularly,Kolkata is and has always been store house of intellectual,cultural,wisdom city. Our divercity, cultural richness, and multifarious ways of living provide in the distinction of being in a position to offer many unique products to the tourist community.
International and domestic tourist flow is growing day by day. So to cater to needs of today’s highly enriched and sophisticated tourist & tourism industry the entire nation urgently needs trained man power in different regions of the country.
The UGC offers travel and tourism course in under graduation level in different nomenclatures like bachelors’ of travel & tourism management,bechelors of tourism studies,BBA in (tourism & hospitality management) etc.Student of(10+2) of any stream can apply for under graduate course in tourism.
Many universities are running MBA in tourism, MTA & MTM.Some private institutes are also running certificate, diploma and degree course in various noemclatures.The university departments or institutes integrated all the essential components of travel, tourism and hospitality sectors. Any graduates of arts, science and commerce stream can apply for masters in tourism. Selection is on the basis of an All India level Competitive Test.
