With the flagging off of the inaugural run of the fourth Vande Bharat Express in Una Railway Station of Himachal Pradesh by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the travelling time from the country’s capital New Delhi to state capital Chandigarh has become only three hours.
The Prime Minister also inspected the train coaches of the Vande Bharat Express and took stock of the onboard facilities. PM Narendra Modi also inspected the control centre of the locomotive engine of Vande Bharat Express. He also inspected the Una Railway station. The CM and the union railway minister accompanied him.
The state of the art, light weight , high speed with safety measures named Kavach ( indigenously developed train collision avoiding system) train is set to boost tourism further , says experts.
Vande Bharat Express will run six days a week and will stop at stations like Ambala, Chandigarh, Anandpur Sahib and Una. Within 52 seconds the train can accelerate at a speed of 100 kilometres.
The regular run of the Vande Bharat Express will start from 19 October and it will run six days a week except on Wednesday.
At present there are 16 trains that ply between Chandigarh and New Delhi. The fastest train is the Kalka Shatabdi Express which covers a distance of 266 kilometres in three hours and twenty five minutes.
The Vande Bharat Express has only stoppages between Chandigarh and New Delhi, Ambala Cantonment and is now the fastest train in this route.

The third Vande Bharat Express was inaugurated at Gujarat earlier this month by PM Narendra Modi.
Meanwhile, the fifth Vande Bharat Express which will ply between Chennai- Bengaluru- Mysuru routes is all set to be launched on 10 November 2022.
The travellers will have a feel of aircraft like experiences and will have free wifi, laptop, phone charging point facilities etc. The coaches will also have LCD TV sets.
The first Vande Bharat Express was between New Delhi and Varanasi in 2019 and then between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra, and thirdly between Gandhinagar to Mumbai Central.
The union government wants to manufacture and introduce 400 numbers of aerodynamically designed Vande Bharat Express Trains in the next three years and has already announced in the general budget 2022.
The high speed trains will act as a game changer in the passenger transportation of railways in the years to come and boost further tourism by reducing the time of travel drastically.
The Vande Bharat trains are also environment friendly and the AC machines are 15 percent more energy efficient.
