As per the wish of Prime Minister Narendra Modi redevelopment of Kumardubi Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is rapidly advancing, promising to provide enhanced amenities and services for passengers.
Kumardubi Station, situated in the Nirsa block of Dhanbad district, Jharkhand, on the New Delhi-Howrah Grand Chord Line, is undergoing redevelopment under the scheme. Classified as an NSG-5 station, Kumardubi is a vital hub in the heart of the coal belt, known for its fire brick industry. The station’s strategic importance and proximity to industrial centers make this redevelopment essential, and the work is progressing at a rapid pace.
As part of the redevelopment, several facilities are planned at Kumardubi Station. These include improvements to traffic circulation and beautification of the circulating area (2656 sqm), the addition of a new entrance porch (11 sqm), and provisions for Divyang-friendly toilet facilities (8.5 sqm). The station’s façade and elevation will be improved, and an air-conditioned waiting hall (181.5 sqm) will be built. A new indoor toilet block for males and females (44 sqm), a designated parking area (456 sqm), and a 12-meter-wide foot overbridge with ramps are also part of the upgrades. Platform resurfacing and new platform shelters will further enhance passenger comfort.
The redevelopment work is progressing swiftly, reflecting the Asansol Division’s commitment to improving passenger experience and operational efficiency. Upon completion, Kumardubi Station will feature modern amenities such as cleanliness, free Wi-Fi, kiosks promoting local products under the ‘One Station One Product’ scheme, upgraded passenger information systems, executive lounges.
