After the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramula Rail Link (USBRL) project, the wait of many years will end. Running Vande Bharat Express train between Jammu and Srinagar will save many hours of time. The journey from Katra to Srinagar will now take only 3 hours. Currently, the journey by road takes 6 to 7 hours. Currently, a plan has been made to run Vande Bharat between Katra and Srinagar. Currently, trains run from Srinagar to Sangaldan in the valley. Now, after the railway line from Sangaldan to Katra is operational, these trains can be run till Katra.
USBRL Project:
The Qazigund-Baramulla section was started in the year 2009. The 18 km Banihal-Qazigund section will be operational in 2013, the 25 km Udhampur-Katra in 2014, the Banihal to Sangaldan in 2023 and now the Sangaldan to Katra section will be operational. The world’s tallest rail arch bridge – Chenab Bridge is a part of this project. The tunnels, bridges and valleys will make rail travel more enjoyable.
