The redevelopment of Sankarpur Railway Station in Jharkhand under Asansol Division of Eastern Railway has drawn widespread appreciation from passengers, who have welcomed the transformation with satisfaction and gratitude. The station was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday through video conferencing, along with 102 other stations across India, under the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Passengers have noted that the upgraded station now offers a significantly improved travel experience marked by better comfort, modern facilities, and a more organised and aesthetically pleasing environment. Many commuters expressed their happiness over the timely
completion of the work and thanked Indian Railways for addressing long-pending demands related to infrastructure and amenities.
Key enhancements include a newly built station building with a second entry, spacious waiting areas, ticket counters, and improved toilet facilities, including features for Divyangjan. The circulating area has been redesigned for smoother passenger flow, while landscaped
gardens and an architecturally designed entrance porch provide a refreshing look to the station. Extended platforms with additional shelters now offer more convenience and protection to passengers.
The station has also become more inclusive, with ramps, guiding tactiles, and accessible toilets ensuring ease of movement for elderly and differently-abled travellers. Improved lighting, cleanliness, and attention to overall passenger needs have made Sankarpur a more
commuter-friendly station.
The positive feedback from the public reflects Indian Railways’ successful implementation of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which aims to transform stations across the nation into future-ready facilities. Sankarpur now stands as a testament to this vision—combining functionality with modern design to better serve the needs of the region’s growing rail users
