SOON VANDE BHARAT EXPRESS TRAINS TO ROLL OUT IN THE EAST

The Vande Bharat Express will run in the five proposed routes in eastern India from Howrah station.

These routes are – Howrah – Ranchi, Howrah – Jharsuguda, Howrah – Bhavneswar, Howrah – Patna, Howrah / Sealdah – New Jalpaiguri. The Howrah- Ranchi route has already been approved.

The  Indian Railways sources said that mainly emphasis has been given on tourism and those traders who want to minimise their travelling times. In most of these proposed routes there is a lack of required number of flights.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already inaugurated the much hyped next generation trains of Indian Railways, Vande Bharat Express in northern, western and southern part of India.

The maximum speed of Vande Bharat Express is 180 kilometres per hour.

The Vande Bharat Express, previously known as Train 18, is a semi-high-speed, electric multiple unit train[2] operated by the Indian Railways on 5 routes as of November 2022. It was designed and manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) at Perambur, Chennai under the Make in India initiative. Construction of the first train took 18 months. The unit cost of the first train was estimated at ₹100 crore  and of the first set of second-generation trains at ₹115 crore . The first  indigenously built  semi high speed train of Indian Railways , Vande Bharat Express was flagged off on 15 February 2019 on the New Delhi – Kanpur- Allahabad – Varanasi route.

In the union budget 2022 it has been stated that 400 Vande Bharat Express Trains will be introduced in the next three years in the country.

The five Vande Bharat Express Trains are currently running on the following routes: • New Delhi – Shri Vaishno Devi Mata, Katra • New Delhi – Varanasi • Gandhinagar Capital – Ahmedabad – Mumbai Central • Amb Andaura – New Delhi • Mysuru – Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MGR Chennai Central.

All toilets are bio-vacuum type. The lighting is dual mode, viz. diffused for general illumination and personal for every seat. • Every coach has a pantry with facilities to serve hot meals, hot and cold beverages. The insulation is meant to keep heat and noise to very low levels for additional passenger comfort. • The Vande Bharat Express has 16 air-conditioned coaches of which two are executive class coaches. The total seating capacity is 1,128 passengers. These trains are energy efficient and save upto 30 percent of electricity.
