TO BOOST TOURISM A CONCRETE ROAD COSTING RS.88 LAKHS  WILL BE SET UP TO JOY CHANDI HILLS IN PURULIA

From Raghunathpur number one block Joy Chandi Hills Level crossing to Joy Chandi Hills mela ground a concrete Rs.88 lakhs road will be developed.

Mr. Sujoy Bandopadhyay, sabhadipati of Purulia Zilla Praishad laid the foundation stone of the road project.

At present there are two roads to visit Joy Chandi Hills and there has been a long time demand to have a proper and spacious road.

Rural Infrastructure Defelopment Fund will bear the project costing.

“ Once this concrete new road project is completed there will be tremendous infrastructural upliftment will will further boost the tourism in the Joy Chandi Hills,”added Mr.  Sujoy Bandopadhyay.

Since the 1980’s the Joy Chandi Hills have caught the eye of the Bengalies, it was the venue of the shooting of Satyajit Ray’s famous Hirak Rajar Deshe film.

In the winter season, many mountaineering institute members visit here for trekking. But the most famous for tourism is due to Goopi and Bagha of Hirak Rajar Deshe.

Still hundreds of people visit every year to see the place where Hirak Rajar Deshe was shoot in the 1980s.

Few cottagres have been set up in the hills for tourism. An annual festival – Joy Chandi Hills Utsav also takes place here.

But once this road project is completed several new attractions will also come up in Joy Chandi Hills to make it a tourism hotspot.

Already the state government has set up a eco tourism project and guest house in Joy Chandi Hills. Greenery have also been added with plantation of trees under 10 days MGNREGA work scheme.

The Joychandi Hills is about one kilometres away from the railway station and beside the Adra railway town of South Eastern Railway.
