UNITED ARAB EMIRATES BARS ENTRY OF SINGLE NAME PASSENGERS : ISSUES LATEST TRAVEL GUIDELINES

The Air India and the Air India Express issued  a circular on 21 November  with Subject : name as appearing on the passport to travel to the UAE. The new  travel guidelines will be enforced  from immediate effect.

“As per National Advance Information Center – UAE the following guideline has been implemented with immediate effect for travel to UAE. Any passport holder with a single name (word) either in surname or given name will not be accepted by UAE immigration and the passenger will be considered as INAD, “ the guideline says.

“1. A passenger with only ‘Praveen’ as his given name and no surname. ‘Praveen’ as his surname and no given name, will be considered and INAD passenger and thus wont be allowed entry in UAE, and if they have been issued visa prior to that, then they will become “INAD by immigration”

2. A passenger with Praveen Kumar as surname and no given name and Praveen as given name and Kumar as surname, or Praveen Kumar as surname and no given name, will be given visa,” the order cites examples.

The above applies only to passengers with Visit visa/Visa on arrival/employment visa and temporary visas and is not applicable to existing UAE Resident card holders.

Amended Guidelines

1. Passport having one name only – Visa issued with more than one name, Passenger has Father’s or family name mentioned in the second page will be accepted.

2. Passport has one name only, passenger eligible for VOA if the Father’s name or family name mentioned in the second page will be accepted.

SpiceJet, Indigo have also informed about the new changes of full names in passports in entry to UAE to the travel agents. India is one the top resource markets of tourism for  the UAE.
